Wildlife Lake, Petworth

PHB were commissioned on a Design and Build basis to create a natural waterscape for wildlife and waterfowl in a private estate valley. The design was agreed and works commenced with earthworks and the formation of dams to make best use of the valley topography. The underlying soil structure being mainly sand, a liner system was needed in the form of Greenseal rubber.

The pond and lake were linked with a sensitively designed and constructed waterfall and stream using local rock from a nearby quarry, fed by a concealed bespoke pumping system. The whole area was seeded with native wildflower grass species and a scheme of native marginal planting expertly carried out. The client was extremely happy with the new landscape and should gain many years of pleasure and great benefit to the local ecology.
