Reed removal from a lined pond

This pond was in the grounds of Tetworth Hall in Ascot and was suffering from an ingress of reed and sedge that was gradually encroaching into the open water and detracting from it’s amenity value. The brief was to clear away the encroachment and make way for a new planting scheme that would make the most of the shape and size of the pond.

Any kind of clearance from a lined pond must be approached with care so as not to damage the fabric of the lining system. PHB used a combination of small excavators and hand work to sensitively remove the organic material from the pond and re-grade the banks ready for planting.
