Our design services include:
- Site survey – Each enquiry is qualified and a survey carried out by our management team using laser technology to accurately plot existing levels onto a site plan. The survey will take into account any existing water within the landscape including flow rates of proposed feeds and potential outlet or outflow areas within the vicinity. In some cases we may need to dig trial holes to ascertain groundwater conditions and soil suitability.
- Consultation – With the information gained from the site survey a consultation with the client is usually required. The possibilities of location and site and the expectations of the client are discussed, together with budget and any planning and environmental issues.
- Plans – Should planning permission or environmental licences be required for the proposal PHB will supply the basic drawings and site plans needed and guide clients through the process. We will out source any specialist advice that is required regarding wildlife and conservation, water quality, planting schemes etc. For the larger contracts we are happy to appoint a landscape architect on behalf of the client but are equally pleased to work closely with an architect or experts employed by the client.
- Landscape construction – We will propose the best method of construction, be that the introduction of a dam, the use of puddling clays or the necessity for a liner. Special consideration is given to the existing surroundings to ensure the new scheme will best fit the landscape and provide the desired aesthetic impact. Location, orientation and views from the property and approaches are all carefully planned to create harmony and a sense of naturalness.
- Features and planting – To complete the service we can provide bespoke designs for a bridge, jetty, boathouse or pavilion to suit your needs. Mature trees and soft planting can also be added to complement the overall scheme.
Finally the design package is quantified and detailed costings will be presented to the client. A separate fee will be levied for the above services, however if PHB are commissioned to carry out the works any charges will be absorbed in the contract sum.
